Analysis
The absorption coefficient of the $2\nu$ mode (4230-4270cm-1) of diluted $^{12}CO$, normalized to a concentration of 1, is calculated by substracting the absorbance spectrum of pure $\beta$-$N_2$ from the absorbance spectrum of the $2\nu$ mode of $^{12}CO$ diluted in $\beta$-$N_2$ (from Quirico and Schmitt 1997b). The band is then fitted with a lorentzian shape. The imaginary part 'k' is then derived in the limit of small k values (k < 1e-2), i.e., with k = alpha/(4*pi*nu). The real part 'n' values is constant and equal to the visible value of N2 (n = 1.23). See Quirico et al. 1999
