- Analysis
- The absorption coefficient of the $2\nu$ mode (4230-4270cm$^{-1}$) of diluted $^{12}CO$, normalized to a concentration of 1, is calculated by substracting the absorbance spectrum of pure $\alpha$-$N_2$ from the absorbance spectrum of the $2\nu$ mode of $^{12}CO$ diluted in $\alpha$-$N_2$ (from Quirico and Schmitt 1997b). The wings outside the band are fitted with a lorentzian shape. The imaginary part 'k' is then derived in the limit of small k values ($k < 10^{-2}$), i.e., with $k = \alpha/(4*\pi*\nu)$. The real part 'n' values is constant and equal to the visible value of $N_2$ (n = 1.23). See Quirico et al. 1999
