Method
This sample is produced with the following method. Appropriate proportions of silicon dioxide and magnesium carbonate powders is heated together in a platinum crucible in air at 1600 ◦C for approximately 30 min. The liquid is quenched to glass by dipping the bottom of crucible in water. This glass was then crushed and remelted at the same conditions to ensure homogeneity.
