Layer
Name
Painted pigment Beauregard (grains inf. 160µm)
Order
2
Type of layer
compact
Texture
cemented granular
Type of porosity
porous
Comments
thichness is not measured but < 0.5mm
Formation mode
manual deposition
Temperature
295.0  $K$
Comments
Some powder is mixed with a few drops of water to obtain a homogeneous painting matter with a smoothness suitable for application by brush on a porous limestone substrate. Several layers of painting matter is applied to get the desired paint thickness. The paint is then dried to remove the water.
Number

Hematite-goethite hematite and minor amount of goethite both in cement and as pseudomorphosis of bioclasts (crinoids and others) 0.917 91.7% of the crystalline phases
Quartz grains embeded in a ferric matrix (hematite + some goethite) 0.05 < 5%. Assumed mass fraction = cross section fraction in raw material. But possibly less if not crushed as original grains are larger (200-500µm) than sieve
Fluorite grains embeded in a ferric matrix (hematite + some goethite) 0.05 < 5%. Assumed mass fraction = cross section fraction in raw material
Baryte grains embeded in a ferric matrix (hematite + some goethite) 0.05 < 5%. Assumed mass fraction = cross section fraction in raw material
